Jess Malcolm is a political reporter in The Australian’s Canberra bureau, where she covers a range of rounds including agriculture, infrastructure and regional affairs. She won the Student Journalist of the Year at the 2021 Quill Awards, and was highly commended for the 2022 Wallace Brown Young Journalist of the Year at the National Press Club. She holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and Sociology and a Master of Journalism from the University of Melbourne.
